Widgit named SEN Supporter of the Year at EducationInvestor Awards 2025
At Widgit, we believe that communication is a fundamental human right. That’s why, for over 40 years, we’ve dedicated ourselves to making it accessible to everyone, particularly for individuals with special educational needs (SEN) and communication challenges. We’re honoured that this mission has been recognised with the SEN Supporter of the Year award at the 2025 EducationInvestor Awards.

Widgit Symbols are at the heart of what we do. With over 21,000 unique symbols representing more than 60,000 words and phrases in 83+ languages, our mission is to support literacy, independence, and self-expression in ways that text alone often can’t. Whether it’s helping a nonverbal child communicate at school, supporting an autistic individual to navigate daily routines, or enabling visitors with communication needs to feel confident in public spaces, Widgit Symbols are making a difference to the everyday lives of people all over the world.
Today, we support around 6 million students in over 10,000 schools, as well as healthcare providers, public services, tourist attractions, and sporting venues, all working to make their environments more inclusive. Through easy-to-use software, Widgit enables teachers, parents, carers, and professionals to create customised resources that build language, support emotional wellbeing, and foster social interaction.
This award also shines a spotlight on the broader movement toward accessibility and inclusion. We know that communication barriers can limit opportunities and isolate individuals. But with the right tools, those barriers can be broken down. Our partnerships and projects, from symbol-supported signage in football stadiums to inclusive classroom materials, are all driven by our core values of integrity, kindness, and quality.
To be named SEN Supporter of the Year is a proud moment, but it’s also a call to keep innovating, advocating, and connecting. Every symbol we create is a step towards a world where everyone feels understood, included, and empowered, whatever their age, ability, or background.
